The Different Body Types

Body types is fairly important, but it's more of a natural/genetic thing. Basically you have very little control over the type of body you have, if your an apple embrace it, don't wish you wear a pear. The reason I believe body types is important is because it's learning to dress to your body type so you can make yourself look so much more flattering. You should never wish to be a different body type because that's not what its all about, its to help women understand their bodies to achieve a greater happiness with the way they look. A body shape doesn't necessarily mean where you store your 'fat' its more the layout of your bones even muscle is a contribution of it.

There are a lot of ways people describe the different body types but I like to keep it simple with just the four body shapes. Most women fit into one of these four categories but if your the exception feel free to contact me and i'll be sure to help you find you specific body type.

So the four body shapes I like to use go something like this;

  • Apple
Top and bottom are narrow. Chest and belly are where weight is found. Skinny legs.

  • Pear
Shoulders narrower then hips. Bottom heavy with weight mainly buttocks, low hips and thighs. Bust is small - medium, Upper body smaller to lower body.

  • Hourglass
Equally broad on top and hips. Thin at the waist, usually 10 or more inches smaller than chest and hips.

  • Rectangle
No definition at the waistline. Shoulders and hips bout the same width. Equal body proportions.

I believe I am have a rectangle body shape but by looking at my Mum and relatives i think I will form more of a pear shape as I get older.
Just a short blog today, I hope to journey on from this topic with more posts like, How To Dress To Suit Your Body Type. Comment what you think.

That's all for now, Vanessa
